In this class, students will learn to use their sewing machines so they can confidently take other sewing classes in the future. We will start by learning how to thread their sewing machine's top thread and then insert a bobbin. Once the machine is set up, we will learn how to use the sewing machine safely and how to control the machine. Students are then shown how to sew on a paper maze so they can build their sewing confidence. If we have time we will also learn how to wind a bobbin. I have made this class a one-on-one class so that I can guide students through using their own personal machine - Students will need to be able to position the camera on the sewing machine for parts of the lesson so that I can guide them. Requirements: > Students need a sewing machine. > Students should have a bobbin already wound. > Students should have their maze printed out and ready to use.

Hello, my name is Hetty and I am a teacher living in the Cotswolds, picturesque countryside in the United Kingdom.
I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher of sewing, art and photography, I have been teaching 11 to 18 year olds in person since 2009 and I have recently decided to teach online and make educational resources full time.
I am looking forward to teaching creative skills and passing on knowledge to students from all over the world.
I will be teaching various lessons to a range of abilities – Sewing, Textiles, Photography, Art, Crafting and Fashion Illustration.
In my classes, I will aim to safely teach students creative techniques so that they can use these skills to be experimental and independent in their own creations. I believe that as a teacher I am here to show you the starting point so that you can use these skills to create from your own imagination.
I love learning new skills and teaching them to others and I look forward to welcoming you to my classes.
I am very flexible on schedule so if you are interested in a class but it doesn't fit your school day just message me.
