Class Experience

Welcome to my tutoring class! In this class, I will be readily available to assist with any areas of struggle and/or need in math. This can include topics in early/mid elementary math and middle school math. Topics may cover things such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. We can also cover math word problems and problem solving skills, place value, measurement and data, and geometry at the elementary and/or middle school level. I know math can be a tricky topic for many learners, but I really enjoy teaching it as I feel like there's always an "answer" or reason in math!

This class is structured as a 1-on-1 personalized private tutoring session. I am available to support learners in any area of need in math. Please feel free to send a message at the time of enrollment in my class, or prior to our tutoring session, with specific topics to cover and I am happy to do so!

I truly believe that every student can learn. In my years as a special education teacher, I have assisted many struggling students in the area of math. My style is enthusiastic and uplifting. I feel strongly about the importance of positive reinforcement and verbal praise in sessions. I will keep your learner engaged with fun ways to grasp concepts and interact with material. I teach using both verbal and visual models and aids.

This personalized, 1-on-1 session will have constant interaction and attention from myself to your learner. We will discuss questions and areas of need/struggle, review assignments and complete activities together (depending on need- i.e. homework help or a 1-on-1 mini lesson), and I will frequently check-in with your learner throughout the lesson to assess understanding and confidence levels.

There is no required experience or knowledge needed for this course due to the nature of the 1-on-1 tutoring experience. Bring any questions you have and I am happy and excited to assist!
