Class Experience

Students in this class will learn how setup all of the GIMP tool windows as well as some of the basics of logo creation.

The learners will then be given a picture challenge activity where they will get an image before and after and will have to look at the after image and figure out how to change the original photo to match the after image. Finally, learners will have to explain exactly what they did to get their final result and I will check for any mistakes and help fill in any knowledge gaps.

Towards the end of the class, the students will be given an additional opportunity to see some of the other more advanced features of GIMP so they can decide if they want to learn more in another class.

My teaching style is hands on. This means we learn by interacting and practicing editing images with the GIMP tools and features.

Learners will get to interact with me several structured times during the class and then as needed when they have questions.

As long as you have a computer running MacOS, Windows, or Linux, you can sign up for this class.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from Green Mountain College
Hello and welcome! My name is Andrew and I am a teacher, former Assistant Camp Director and volunteer firefighter.
I teach:

- CapCut Video Editing
- Beginner Morse code

In my high school years, I took an Amateur Radio Licensing Class that included learning Morse Code. I did so well with the Morse Code that I earned an award for being able to send and receive the code at 5 words per minute. As a senior in high school, I taught and organized a small group of high school and middle school students about Morse Code.

In 2013, I graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont with two degrees: Adventure Education & Youth Development & Camp Management. During my 4 years of college, I also created a Ham Radio Club and offered classes and fun projects to college aged students.

After college, I worked for 5 years at the Hawthorne Valley Farm Visiting Students Program and Summer Camp programs. I started out as a camp counselor and eventually worked one year as the Assistant Director. During this time, I again occasionally taught a Morse Code class to the interested students who were 9-12 years old.

Teaching Values:
1. In class, I like to make the classroom fun and engaging so that the students can enjoy the learning process.
2. I will never make anyone feel bad about getting something wrong. I will allow mistakes to happen and them guide the students to correct their own work.
3. Every class, I make an effort to connect the content to real life examples to help bring out more interest and enthusiasm in the students.

As a teenager living in rural New York, USA, I communicated to another Ham Radio Operator in Alaska using Morse Code with a handmade dipole antenna.
