Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Intermediate Level
In this private 1-1 meeting, students will receive guidance from me regarding an assignment that they need to complete. As students enter their high school years, they will be required to complete assignments based on the content that was taught in class. At times, students struggle how to begin their assignments and what information they should focus on. In this class, the attention will be on providing explanations and providing the students with ideas on how to best complete the assignment. Depending on what the assignment is on, there is a possibility that the majority of the assignment can be completed within the hour. Please note, however, that there are no guarantees that an assignment will get completed within the hour as all assignments vary in length.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ If the learner requires additional help with editing, parents will need to book an additional class. Please do not have the learner message me to look over their work after our class. I will only complete additional edits with the learner present in class ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Topics : Structuring proper sentences, structuring paragraphs, generating an appropriate topic sentence, using proper terminology, integrating proper citation.

Themes: The class will be taught by focusing on the homework that the student presents to me. Depending on the homework, the student will be given additional suggestions on how to improve their language skills. For example, if the assignment indicates for students to write a persuasive paragraph, I will present a lesson on how to properly structure a persuasive paragraph and I will provide additional samples for the student to see so that they can follow directions when completing their own assignment.

Also, the theme of the class will depend on the assignment that the students will present to me. For example, if the student completed reading the play Romeo and Juliet then the theme of the class will be pertaining to the play. If a student read a short story, then the theme of the class will be focused on what the short story is about.

Every class will be different depending on the assignment that student needs to work on.

Teaching Style/ Method: Since this will be a 1-1 class, the student will have the entire hour to interact with me and ask me questions about the assignment they have. I will teach additional topics that focus on proper writing techniques.

I specialize in Language Arts assignments. During the class, students will be taught how to properly formulate a paragraph, an essay, how to properly structure sentences, and students will be encouraged to pay close attention to their use of grammar.

Target Audience: Students in high school.

➡️If your child does not show up for their session, I will message you in the first few minutes of class starting to inform you of their absence. After ten minutes, I close the Zoom classroom and message you again that they missed class. This is non-refundable as per Outschool policy.

⚠️R E F U N D S /C A N C E L L A T I O N S

Refunds are only given within a 24 hour notice, if I have been contacted by you, the parent, or the learner. If you cannot make a meeting due to your schedule, please make sure you cancel that meeting before Sunday of that week.

I do not refund if I do not have a message from you within 24 hours. Everyone’s time is valuable, including mine. I can; however, provide you with the learning materials that I planned to help the student with that week. Or we can use those at the next LIVE lesson.

I DO message parents when a learner does not appear in the Zoom meeting within a couple of minutes of the scheduled time. I give 10 minutes of wait time before I sign off, and then I message again to let you know that your learner has missed their tutoring session. This is an Outschool policy that I follow.

If you CANNOT give a 24 HOUR notice, message me, and I will try to fit you into a time that I have during that week, but it is not guaranteed.

PLEASE check your emails from Outschool because that is where the messages go. Quote directly from Outschool information: "Please note that the Conversations feature will track read and unread messages from within the Outschool platform, and will sync with your personal email. For example, if you read and respond to messages via your email, those messages will show as Read from Conversations."

Throughout my career as an English tutor, I have helped students with their English courses. I am fluent in the English language and I am very familiar with the requirements that students must achieve in order to be successful in their English courses. For example, I have helped students structure essays from beginning to end and taught how to properly structure sentences, how to integrate valuable supporting details, how to properly source, include in-text citations, analyze academic journals, and how to paraphrase information that is relevant to the topic at hand.

When students are enrolled in an English course, they will be assigned assignments that can sometimes be difficult. I have been helping students successfully complete their school assignments and teach them how to properly write. Writing is a skill that requires attention to detail and it requires students to pay close attention to their topic so that they do not present irrelevant information in their piece. As an English tutor, I teach students how to stay on topic, formulate a topic sentence, use strong adjectives and adverbs to provide great description to their writing, how to target different audiences, how to appropriately and professionally write a persuasive piece, and how to organize ideas so that writing is presented in a cohesive and clear manner.
