College application essays are a way for admissions officers to learn about applicants and an opportunity for students to make a memorable impression. During this lesson, I will work one-on-one to help a student make progress on their application essays. If they haven't started the writing process, we will have a brainstorming session to understand what the student wants to share with admissions. If they have a draft, we will evaluate it to find areas for improvement in terms of clarity,...
Students will end this lesson with an understanding of the purpose of a college application essay and how to improve an essay/essays that they are currently working on.
The learner should come to class with the essay prompt(s) that they want to work on. Be sure to have the exact prompt and the maximum word count.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
