Get $11 off your first class with coupon code MARISSATUTOR11 First Class Expectations: The first lesson will be a fundamental lesson to better gauge the learner's current skill level and knowledge. Learners are able to suggest subjects for the first lesson prior to the start time or choose one of the options prepared by the teacher. During class, the learner will be asked questions about their skills, goals, and preferences. The teacher will submit a pre-assessment and a loose curriculum for future lessons. What will be taught In this formal 1:1 class, your artist will complete drawing and coloring lessons based on their individual goals. Each 55 minute class includes self-paced step-by-step instructions and guidance and a short lecture if necessary. Assessments/grades can be submitted after each project is completed if requested. Homework to exercise skills and techniques can be assigned if requested. If you are interested in a more easygoing and fun 1:1 art class, please see my "1:1 Art Sessions! While they will be taught techniques on drawing accuracy, learners will be encouraged to not dwell on "perfections", but instead use their current skills and drawing styles to create unique drawings. Learners are also motivated to make their own creative choices and learn how to bring their imagination to life using the knowledge they are given in class Each class instills my key values for art and creativity: 1. Growth in your skill can flourish so much more when you are enjoying the adventure. I take each of your learners' individual development earnestly. Each interaction I have with your learner will be to guide and empower them to take charge of their own artistic and creative journey with all the tools, techniques, and tricks I can provide. 2. I believe that knowledge and exploration is a key component to creativity. Every day I strive to learn something new and explore my talents every day so I can lead your learner by example. The more information we have about the world around us can inspire our minds in endless ways 3. A creative mind is only as strong as the community they find themselves in. Every learner is encouraged to support and encourage each other through positive words, sharing their strengths, patience and understanding. While this is a 1:1 class, learners are still given opportunities to collaborate and communicate effectively so they can develop into strong leaders and teammates. Remember: being the best version of you begins with trying your best and I will be overjoyed to help your learner along this journey!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from California State University of Fullerton
I have been working and volunteering as an art educator and instructor since 2015. I had been attending college for a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art and Animation from California State University of Fullerton where I had met and been taught by dozens of brilliant creatives. While working in education during college, I had grown to realize that working with developing young minds was what I was most enthusiastic about and teaching art to young artists what I was wholeheartedly passionate about!
Since then, I have been teaching art in various settings, such as: in-person classrooms, online, summer camps, small group and 1:1 environments, and for students with disabilities. I have worked with a diverse number of young artists ranging from four to twenty years old with a wide range of artistic skills and styles.
In addition to teaching art, I have been a para-educator in a school for students with disabilities, an English tutor for adult refugees, interned at a center for therapeutic arts, and a para-educator in public schools for elementary PE and kindergarten,
Most recently, I have been teaching art online since 2022 and I look forward to where my classes on Outschool will take me and your learners!
