I am passionate about puppets and very much enjoy using them in some of my classes with my youngest learners and making puppet videos. I have built up quite a collection of different types of puppets and have attended numerous workshops to develop my skills. I am very experienced in coaching learners to produce their best performance, and I love seeing them develop in front of my eyes. Many of my ex-students have gone on to study at prestigious London stage schools in acting and directing, even though we are over 200 miles away, and they only take a small number from out of the catchment area each year. I have also coached learners on all different levels, like one who didn't wish to speak when I started working with him (aged 10) but he ended up playing the lead role in his final year production (aged 15). I am a fully qualified teacher (BAPA, PGCE) with 16+ years of experience teaching Drama (and some Music, PSHCE, and English) to 11 to 15 years olds and Performing Arts to 16 to 18 year olds in bricks and mortar schools, where I currently still teach part-time, including running small group and 1:1 confidence building workshops. I also have many years of experience leading community workshop schemes (like create a play in a week) and local drama groups for ages 4 to 16. As a professional actress, I've performed to children from ages 2-14 in theatres, arts centres, social clubs, historical properties, nurseries, and schools. Playing roles such as the Gingerbread man and a tortoise, to a wartime headmistress and Queen Elizabeth the first! With lots of Q & A and interactive workshops along the way. I then branched into presenting (live, events, radio, some TV, and for holiday companies across Europe) including some Voiceover work. I currently create and present drama and presenter tuition videos and have a regular podcast. I have produced and directed many productions (musicals and plays) as well, including some I have written myself.
