Homework
Students should submit the assignment instructions three days prior to our first meeting, along with a draft of any work that has already been completed, in order to allow me time to review the assignment and prepare my feedback. It would also be helpful if your student could indicate any specific questions they have about the assignment, and/or their goals for our time together. During our session, we will create a plan for the work that should be completed before our next meeting, customized to the needs of the student and the assignment.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 12
This tutorial is for anyone who wants one-on-one help on an academic paper.

Your student and I will collaborate on the agenda for each meeting based on the assignment(s) with which they are seeking help, where they are in the writing process, and any specific questions they have, and I’ll use my expertise and the resources at my disposal to guide them toward realizing their goals. Some possible areas of focus include:

⦾ Brainstorming
⦾ Outlining
⦾ Thesis statements
⦾ Organization
⦾ Incorporation and analysis of evidence
⦾ Writing style
⦾ Citations and formatting

We will meet weekly for 30 minutes. During our sessions, I will provide detailed feedback on the work your student has submitted, and/or answer any specific questions they have about their paper. At the end of each session, we will create an action plan for the next steps your student will take to continue improving their work.

This tutorial is open-ended and will continue for as long as your student wishes to continue working together.
Learning Goals
Students will develop the ability to express themselves clearly and effectively in writing, including, but not limited to, the ability to do the following:
⦾ Support a significant central idea with thoughtfully chosen evidence and details appropriate to the purpose and genre;
⦾ Demonstrate organization and cohesion in writing;
⦾ Find and incorporate reliable, accurate, and relevant sources, and cite them properly;
⦾ Follow the conventions of formal, written English.
