US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learning how to write a good paragraph will lead to writing nice essays, stories, letters, and other forms of writing. In this class you will learn a great brainstorming tool to help get you started so that the process of writing a paragraph will be easy peasy. Students will begin by choosing a topic or idea. Next, we will use a special thinking map and a little visualizing to help plan out our writing. Then, students will learn about the three parts of a good paragraph: topic sentence, body of the paragraph, and closing paragraph. We will work together to craft each of these paragraph parts. The thinking map will assist in keeping students organized. At the culmination we will share our paragraphs and give one another construction and kind feedback. This will be an easy process that will make writing a paragraph fun!

I have over 20 years of experience teaching grades 3 through 8. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, where I studied Elementary Education. In addition, I have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My tutoring session fosters imagination, growth, and experimentation. Students feel safe exploring the learning process, and proud of their accomplishments. My passion for teaching many subject areas, but particularly reading, writing, arts, and SEL is quite evident as I often believe in weaving the disciplines together in a cross-curricular approach. I have attended many reading and writing conferences over the years to keep up on the most current literacy practices. In my free time I enjoy reading, journaling, blogging, and writing poetry. Sharing this passion with students is a tremendous joy!
