Class experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Tutoring will focus on helping the student write essays, which often involves close reading to summarize, respond thoughtfully to, or analyze. This is individual time for those who want additional help developing thesis statements, outlines, and reading and writing strategies. I can guide you through all of the steps and help you troubleshoot while you do all the writing. This includes an editing technique that will let you feel confident as you use your brain and eyes to edit.
You will get the help you need to feel confident as you write whatever you high school assignments are.
I have 20+ years of experience teaching teens and adults. I teach English, writing, communication, and critical thinking. My students appreciate that they have voices in respectful, challenging classes. My classes always include some workshop time where people can get some individual help.
Homework Offered
After each session, go ahead and look at whatever the next tricky writing task will be. Get started and bring whatever you have already for next time. That way, we can use tutoring time to tackle the more challenging parts together.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
