Description
Class Experience
This 1 hour guitar lesson will be focused on getting to know the instrument to a larger extent. Since the ability to play music on a guitar depends on how well you know the instrument, we will focus on practice strategies that, if applied frequently enough, can expand one's understanding of the mechanics of the instrument, and therefore, one’s ability to play the guitar. My teaching style is based on using songs the student likes so we can deconstruct them, analyze them and learn them,...
The goals in this lesson will vary widely depending on the level and age of the student. However, my ultimate goal is that the students take with them something valuable, regardless of their level, that they can apply for the rest of their journey as musicians.
Over 15 years of professional experience teaching music to students of all ages and levels.
Student will require his/her own guitar, guitar picks, tuner, capo, and amplifier in case of being an electric guitar.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
For younger students it's important to ensure the correct posture. Parents should ensure students are practicing the correct material in a correct manner. Otherwise, students might develop undesired spinal curvature, carpian tunnel syndrome, among others.
Under some parental guidance, these books might be good to furthering your education: - Hal Leonard's Music Theory Guitar Method by Tom Kolb - Fretboard Freedom by Troy Nelson - The Advancing Guitarist by Mick Goodrick
