Class Experience
This 1 hour guitar lesson will be focused on getting to know the instrument to a larger extent. Since the ability to play music on a guitar depends on how well you know the instrument, we will focus on practice strategies that, if applied frequently enough, can expand one's understanding of the mechanics of the instrument, and therefore, one’s ability to play the guitar. My teaching style is based on using songs the student likes so we can deconstruct them, analyze them and learn them, learning important theoretical insights along the way. This practice combined with learning chords, scales, arpeggios, intervals, and improvisation techniques, provides the students with the ability to navigate any musical situation and helps them find their own musical voice. Topics covered will vary depending on the student’s level of experience and interests. From a first approach to the instrument as a beginner to advanced improvisation techniques, songwriting, song analysis or composition, anything can be covered in this class to help the student further their mastery over the instrument and music itself. The class will be an interactive one-on-one lesson, and will include materials like chord diagrams, lead sheets, songbooks, etc. Also, a secondary camera showing the hands of the instructor will help the student see clearly how to play the exercises demonstrated over the video call. No previous knowledge or experience is required for this lesson.
Learning Goals
The goals in this lesson will vary widely depending on the level and age of the student. However, my ultimate goal is that the students take with them something valuable, regardless of their level, that they can apply for the rest of their journey as musicians.
