Organizations can now teach on Outschool

Apr 23, 2020

Since school closures began a month ago, we have seen unprecedented disruptions to “normal” life for kids. Children across the country are experiencing the loss of time with their teachers and friends during the day, alongside the loss of the ability to participate in after-school / weekend activities - typically places for critical connections, exploration, creativity, collaboration and self esteem. This loss is an acute one - for families and for the organizations who serve them.

Theater programs, camps, museums, and after-school programs are largely founded on a place-based model that has been disrupted by the coronavirus.  With families across the globe unable to go out, explore, learn and be inspired, we realized that it is time to get creative and bring the world to them.

We are excited to announce that Outschool can now support organizations who want to bring classes and programming to learners all over the globe through live Zoom classes.

While Outschool was originally designed as a marketplace for teachers, we have updated the platform to meet the needs of organizations and local businesses .

What does this mean for Organizations?

Being an organization on Outschool provides you with an easy-to-use and safe platform to deliver your content virtually.  It enables you to support your current audience, while also accessing new learners. You will move from being able to support students and families in your community to supporting them all over the world.

Organizations on Outschool each get their own homepage to list their classes, can be found via search and discovery, and are featured on our blog and in weekly email digests and on Facebook.

As an organization, you have control over the topics you teach, the schedule, the number of learners in each class, and the pricing for your classes.

What does this mean for Families and Learners?

As an Outschool family, you have access to classes taught by incredible organizations across the world - bringing high quality programming into your home.  We are excited to announce the first set of amazing organizations, across a variety of subject areas, to provide classes on Outschool. About Outschool

Outschool is a marketplace of live online classes for kids ages 3-18. Classes meet in small groups over live video chat where students are safely connected with teachers and classmates who share their interests. These classes are offered through our marketplace and conducted on our remote learning platform, powered by Zoom.

Live online group classes are more engaging and valuable than passive online content through being social. At the same time, they have the benefits of online learning for access and convenience. Outschool’s team and community of teachers have  more expertise in this type of learning than any other US-based organization having had 80K students attend more than 300K class hours.
