Students will learn the basics of coding using MIT's block based coding app Scratch Jr. Parents can install the app for learners on tablets or pcs. Scratch Jr. helps learners develop coding skills and logical reasoning to build games and understand the basics of game development. The learners are able to customise the games as per their choice and enhance their creativity. This leads to Higher Order Thinking Skills. Device : Learners will need 2 devices one with the app and another with zoom. Device 1 - Tablets or PC / laptops with Scratch Jr App installed - https://www.scratchjr.org/ Device 2 - Phone/ Tablet or PC/Laptop with zoom installed for Outschool class Learner Skills : No previous coding skills are needed. For young learners who are starting to read simple words, there is a record feature that will also help. Learners should know how to drag and drop and click on the tablets / computer. Learners engage in using different skills for the project and making fun and engaging games on Scratch Jr. This class does not need prior coding experience. Some of the games we would learn to make as per the learner's pace are mentioned below. Teachers will choose any 5 of these games to complete in the course. Lesson 1: Space battle game Lesson 2: Animal Race game Lesson 3:Penguin road crossing game Lesson 4: Biker game Lesson 5:Basketball game Lesson 6:Dino Run Game Lesson 7:Throwball Lesson 8:Shooting game Lesson 9 :Soccer Game Lesson 10:Quiz game Spooky forest game Sometime fi the learner is slow , the teacher will not be able to complete all the games. Incase you do not have 2 devices for this class , we would request the parents to teach kids to switch tabs for this class . The teacher will also guide for the same. Learners will be taught in a fun interactive way where kids will be asked to customise the game as per their choice.
