Please notice that Outschool has the following policies to ensure that only youth attend class.
1. All cameras must be on for video verification of each learner.
2. The use of a headset is recommended to eliminate background noise from your learning environment. Please try these out with Zoom prior to class to ensure they work in case you need to adjust input/output settings.
3. No adults are permitted to be viewed on the screen. --- if an adult needs to be present to assist a learner, please sit to the side out of view.

No one on Outschool is authorized by YouTube to open accounts for children. It takes 5 minutes to open a channel.

PLEASE READ:

According to YouTube, children under the age of 13 should be supervised by an adult. Because of YouTube privacy and age requirements, I am able to provide you with instructions to create the channel, however, I am not able to open a channel for learners. No adult other than a parent is lawfully able to open a YouTube account for any minor under the age of majority (18, 19, 21) where you live. No one on Outschool is authorized by YouTube to open accounts for children. It takes 5 minutes to open a channel. You do not need to register for the course if you would just like the instructions. Please email me and I will be happy to provide them so you can get your child Youtubing! If you are registering for the course, the instructions to set up the channel are sent in the welcome email in the class discussion.

Please also know that there are children of a lot of different skill levels, with a lot of different technologies taking this course. Some already have channels. Some don't. Some have Macs. Some have PC's. Some have iPhones. Some have tablets. To demonstrate all of the technologies and skills, from the ground up, in the time allotted for this course, is not possible. If you're looking for guided demonstrations of how to set up a specific technology or use a certain software, you might take this course, and then take another that trains specifically in the technologies, software, hardware and skills you want to focus on. I do not, for example, teach editing skills in this course, but I will list some editing software that you can use.

SOME FAQ's:
->Please review Outschool's refund policy: If you miss a class, you are not entitled to a refund. Do not ask for a transfer. A recording is provided for review.
->Outschool does not allow multiple learners in the same login or device unless each learner pays the course fee separately.
->Other Outschool Instructors and family members have taken my class to learn about Youtube and to create their own courses around YouTube on Outschool. If you want to learn about YT, choose a course from an Instructor who actively works with children, participates in YT professional development and attends annual YT conventions, uses YT with learners of all abilities as a teaching tool, and is also a YT creator using YT to facilitate learning in social science university courses on the LMS platform.
-> I am not currently taking on additional 1:1 learners or scheduling private classes, except through my β€œYT in the Classroom” program helping school teachers bring YT instruction to their entire class.
->How is the price for this course set? Outschool charges a 30% fee off the cost of the course, income tax charges 34%. Thus, 36% of what you are paying is what I receive to keep my family homeschooling in a rural area and continue to take workshops on video making and YouTubing. I truly appreciate every enrolment. If you have further questions about video making after the course, do not hesitate to message me directly.

*The original OUTSCHOOL YOUTUBE TEACHER,* I've been teaching on Outschool over 6 years.

With over 30 years of communications and education experience, I started a professional communications consulting company in 2014 to help businesses make content for their digital marketing strategies for business YouTube channels. As an educational content maker for a university and multi-media University Prof, I have taken live workshops facilitated by MattPat (Game Theorist), Alex (LowSpecGamer), Maxim Jago (Adobe), LCShadowLady, Matt Gielen, Mike Cook, Tahir Basheer, Cliff Fluet, Ben Jeffries, Hank Green, Rebecca Parham, Matthew Vandeputte, Jeremy Vest, Andy Burgess (Metfilm School), Jesse Latham (therealshookon3), Claudio Barbiero, William Hodgett (GoPro), and many more from travelling the world for multimedia work.

My teaching style is instructional, yet dialogic. I want to get the most information out there and pass it over to learners to try on their own. This style is reflective of my teaching style and background; I teach part-time in multimedia, journalism, communications, media, and film at two universities. I have been fortunate enough to take video making and YouTube workshops to enhance my expertise, including copywriting and law for Youtube.

I have over 20 years of experience as a certified teacher and because I am serious about the use of video making for and as learning as well as using YouTube with my students, I am able to develop a great online classroom climate with learners and help them learn what they need to get their YouTube channels on a successful path.
